The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) will issue visa on arrival for visitors and revelers coming to the country for the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The move is expected to ease the hurdle and burden such individuals go through in securing visa to Ghana.
Appearing on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (December 22), the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman said the visa on arrival arrangement for this festive season takes effect this week.
“Thanks to the collaborative effort of the ministry of tourism, foreign affairs, and interior, we’re going to have the visa on arrival regime instituted sometime this week,” Mr Agyeman said.
“So, people can pick up their passports, buy their tickets and come enjoy Christmas in Ghana,” he said.
The GTA boss said they have engaged hotels in Ghana to subsidise their rates to accommodate more tourists who will be visiting the country.
“We’ve done engagements with hotels on the fact that ‘December in Ghana’ is here to stay so they shouldn’t keep their prices at a higher level,” he said.
