The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen has resigned ahead of a possible ministerial reshuffle in the coming days, officials at the Office of the President confirm to Asaaseradio.com.
Kyerematen, who has had an eye on the presidency, tendered in his resignation letter on Thursday 5 January 2023.
He has served as trade minister since President Nana Akufo-Addo came to power in 2017.
Speaking on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (6 January), pollster Ben Ephson said Kyerematen’s resignation is long overdue.
“I can confirm that it’s true,” Ephson said. “It’s been too long in coming. We should expect a reshuffle in the coming weeks. By Tuesday or Wednesday it will be clear.”
The Office of the President is yet to officially comment on the development.
