Ayigbe Edem, a popularly known Ghanaian rapper, has urged Ghanaians to expect a major political announcement from him.

On Tuesday, March 21, he posted a picture of himself on a poster with the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s colors and logo.

“Big announcement soon, fully active,” the artwork indicated.

On February 22, 2023, the party opened nominations for its presidential and parliamentary primaries for the 2024 elections.

This comes at a time the NDC is preparing to elect flagbearers and parliamentary candidates as part of preparations for the 2024 general elections.

Edem hails from Dzogadze, a small town in Abor, in the Volta Region of Ghana, the region considered as the world bank of the NDC in terms of votes.

According to the timetable released by the party, submission and filing of nominations forms will take place from Monday, March 20, 2023 to Wednesday March 22, 2023.

Edem would not the first entertainment person to contest a seat in the NDC parliamentary primaries. Music and media entrepreneur Baba Sadiq is vying for the Okaikoi Central Constituency seat. At the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency are two actors, John Dumelo and Fred Nuamah.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced May 13, 2023, for both presidential and parliamentary primaries.
