On Sunday, Cristiano Ronaldo made his competitive debut for Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia, who went on to defeat Ettifaq 1-0.

Ronaldo signed a contract with the club last month that reportedly pays him more than £177 million annually until 2025.

The Portugal star scored his first goals in a friendly against PSG on Thursday, and he was named to the starting lineup for Sunday. He led the line throughout the game, which was won by Brazilian midfielder Talisca.

In the Saudi league, Al Nassr leads Al Hilal by one point.

At King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Ronaldo was greeted by banners and chants from his loyal fans.

Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, is the all-time Champions League top-scorer, collecting five titles along the way, and has won seven domestic championships with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

His shock move to Al Nassr came after his second stint at Manchester United collapsed after an explosive TV interview in which he criticised manager Erik ten Hag and the club’s owners. Ronaldo had been repeatedly benched and even suspended by the club.
