The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has disclosed that 10 persons who contracted COVID-19 within the last two weeks in the municipality have died.
On Monday, a press statement issued by the Public Relation Officer (PRO), Henrietta A. K. Aboagye, revealed that the region has seen a rapid surge in covid-19 cases, with health facilities recording over 200 cases between July 1 to July 13.
Responding to issues concerning the new variant, she noted that the Delta variant was detected after the December 2020 yuletide.
According to her, the upsurge of the new cases can be attributed to the massive disregard for Covid-19 protocols.
She, however, encouraged persons not to let their guard down and, as a matter of urgency, adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has revealed that the country’s active cases stand at 2,858, while 382 new cases have been recorded.
So far, the death toll stands at 812.
