NPP to counter-petition CID to demand arrest of Mahama

After the NDC submitted a petition to the Police CID calling for the arrest of NPP MP for Abetifi and Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong for what has been described as intemperate comments, the NPP has revealed that they will submit a counter-petition to the CID today.

According to the NPP, their counter petition will demand the arrest, investigation and prosecution of the former President, John Dramani Mahama for similar violent intended comments made earlier.

Speaking on Accra-based TV3, the National Organizer of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye explained that if the NDC wants Bryan Acheampong arrested for his comments, then he cannot fathom why Mr. Mahama should walk as a free man for a similar comment he has made in the past.

Nana B noted Mr. Mahama’s earlier comment that the NDC was borne out of a revolution and hence they understand and know how to unleash violence more than any other person in the country also have violent tendencies which can disrupt the peace and democracy of the country.

He, therefore, noted that the party has finalized and completed the petition which will be submitted to the police CID today.

“We have just finalized and concluded a petition to be submitted to the Ghana Police Service, the CID, for the arrest, investigation and prosecution of the former president John Dramani Mahama for comments he has made which have violent tendencies. You recall that he said that “for the NDC, we were borne out of revolution……”, the National Organizer for the ruling NPP noted.

He further revealed that the petition will also call for the arrest of other NDC stalwarts such as the National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and others who have made similar intemperate comments which can disrupt the peace of Ghana.
