Ghana coach Otto Addo will arrive in Accra today ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He took charge after Chris Hughton and is set to fully assume his responsibilities after leaving Borussia Dortmund.
The 43-year-old coach signed a 34-month contract with the option to extend for another 24 months. He is committed to leading Ghana’s team forward. In March, he led the Black Stars in matches against Nigeria and Uganda, resulting in a loss to Nigeria and a draw with Uganda.
Addo returned to Germany after the matches with Borussia Dortmund and received tribute during their last Bundesliga encounter against SV Darmstadt 98. He is now ready to take on his role as the full-time coach of the Black Stars and is expected to announce the squad for the upcoming fixtures against Mali and the Central African Republic upon his arrival.
Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, will play against Mali at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako on June 6 and then host the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on June 10, 2024. Currently 4th in Group I with one win and one draw in the first two matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Ghana is looking to secure victories in these upcoming games to improve their chances of qualifying for the World Cup, which will take place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
