After a shoot-out with police officers on the Ofankor-Achimota main road in the Greater Accra Area , two alleged criminals were gunned down.
DSP Afia Tenge, the Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Director, shared the circumstances that led to the shooting with Citi News.
“A gentleman was assaulted by two unidentified men on a motorcycle on his way to his residence at Tantra Hills in Accra on September 29, 2020, around 10:30 pm. The two of them chased him to the front of his gate on a motorbike. Then they drew a knife from him and told him to give every precious thing to him. With the victim’s Samsung smartphone and GHS 800.00 dollars, the riders sped off. The survivor promptly sought help from the Mile 7 officers.
The two were later seen on Ofankor-Achimota Main Road near St. John’s Senior High School ( SHS) at midnight. One of the suspects, after hearing the officers, took out an officers gun. The police spotted this sooner, though, and gunned them down before the trigger could be pulled, she said.
A gun with 7 rounds of bullets and cash on it and the Royal Motorbike were discovered by the police.
For preservation, identification, and autopsy, both bodies were deposited at the Police Hospital.
However, the survivor named them as the robbers.
