Presec Legon wins #NSMQ for the 8th time

For the 8th time, Presbyterian Boys Senior High School, Legon has won the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) grand finale. As 2022 champions, Presec Legon won back to back in 2023, making it the second time to have won back to back on the 30th anniversary of the NSMQ.
They ended the final round 5 with 40 points as against Achimota School’s 28 points as silver medalists, and Opoku Ware School’s 23 points as bronze medalists.
The Presecan boys took the first step to secure the bragging rights as the most successful school in the NSMQ right from round one, as they ended the 2023 grand finale round one with 18 points.

Two-times champions Opoku Ware School and two-times Achimota School, ended the first round with 9 and 11 points respectively.
Presec held on to the lead till the 5th round with 40 points.
It was only in the 4th round that Achimota School closed the gap and came level at 25 points each with Presec at some point, but that round even ended with Presec at 31 points as against Achimota’s 28 points and Opoku Ware’s 20 points.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, at the beginning of the contest commended the organisers, Primetime, for initiating the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) for senior high school (SHS) students.
He said the programme has whipped up interest in the study of science and its related programmes among SHS students.
Dr Adutwum also commended all the contestants from the three schools, saying, “no matter what happens, contestants, you have done well for your schools.”
