Ayigbe Edem in court for allegedly knocking and killing unknown woman

Rapper Edem, known officially as Denning Edem Hotor was Monday morning arraigned at the Kaneshie District Court for allegedly knocking down a woman on the George Walker Bush Highway last Sunday at about 2 a.m.
Edem was reportedly driving a Honda Touring vehicle with registration number GX 3011-19 when the accident occurred.
According to court documents, the woman, who is yet to be identified has passed. She is suspected to be in her 40s.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical doctor on duty.
The ‘Nyedzilo‘ hitmaker, when he was arraigned at the Kaneshie District Court on Monday [December 11, 2023] was charged with two counts of careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm.
He appeared before the court presided over by Nana Abena Asor Owusu Amenyo.
Edem’s plea was not taken when he mounted the dock.
He is reportedly cooperating with the police in investigations.
Edem granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties
He has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with two sureties.
He is to re-appear on February 15, 2024.
Edem was a guest on a television programme at Abeka junction on Saturday night, running into Sunday dawn.
Per reports, the rapper was returning from the television programme which ended at dawn that the accident occurred.
The accident was reported at the Tesano police Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) in Accra.
There are indications the woman who was hit by Edem’s vehicle was ‘naked’ and reportedly crossed the vehicle on the highway.
The vehicle overturned after the impact.
