Woman slaps Police Commander for arresting her son

A 58-year-old woman, Akua Saa has been detained for reportedly slapping Kyebi District Police Commander, Chief Supt. Magnus Reindorf Sam for resisting the arrest of her son Frederick Sarkodie and three others who were involved in narcotics trafficking.

The accused, Akua Saa, Margaret 28, Kingsley Sarkodie, 22, Vivian Saa, 33, Fiago Gilbert, 38, and Frederick Sarkodie, were caught by the police one afternoon at Akyem Sagyimase in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana.

According to reports, the operations were directed by the Kyebi Police Commander, who was escorted by 20 armed police officers who embarked on a search into Kyebi’s ghettos.

During this time, police officers invaded Akyem Sagyimase and detained the alleged drug dealers.

During her struggle with the authorities, the mother allegedly prevented the officers from detaining her son, slapping the Police Commander in the face, but she was eventually overpowered by the armed officers.

The suspects were caught with 20 wraps of suspected narcotics, several dried marijuana leaves, a lighter, and a knife.

They were then taken to the Kyebi Police Station, where they are currently resting in the cells while assisting with the investigation.

According to reports, one of the suspects, Vivian Asaa, complained of bodily pains and was brought to Kibi Government Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the suspects will appear in court later this week.
